We are family owned and operated with a fleet of 2 vessels. The C/V Ocean Captain and the F/V Jessica Ann are the two vessels currently operating out of Newport, OR.
​
The C/V Ocean Captain is a 43' Rawson licensed for 23 passengers. She is equipped with exceptional safety equipment and outfitted with multiple means of communication. She recently had upgraded electronics and Navionics installed to meet our Captains standards (he is kind of a Navionics geek) and demands only the best. Offering trips from Bay Cruises to Offshore Tuna. All of our trips are very family oriented. Our crew has a passion for taking care of all of the passengers and their needs while aboard. C/V Ocean Captain is currently moored at South Beach Marina, A Dock, Slip 51. Future plans of educational tours and trips for our youth who are interested in the Maritime industry.

The F/V Jessica Ann is a 40' Petitis built commercial troller, built right here in Newport. Currently rigged for commercial Salmon trolling, Black Cod longlining, commercial Rockfish, and Tuna. We market our product to local processors, private purchasers directly from the docks, and coming soon we will offer online sales.

Our family has a long history out on the ocean and the love of the industry is something that we enjoy sharing with our community. We look forward to you having an experience of a lifetime!
Our Story
While aboard the Ocean Captain you will find decades of experience out on the ocean. Our love of fishing and the ocean is something our family wanted to share with our community to create memories that will last a life time.
Captain Doug started out as a fill-in deckhand on Charter boats in Southern California when he was 16. Reeling in those monster bluefin Tuna with a record catch of 262 lbs. His love of the salt didn't stop there. Doug started fishing out of Newport in 1998. As a former Firefighter/EMT, you can rest assured that safety and wellbeing of all passengers and crew on board is at the forefront of his mind.

Showshana has spent most of her life with a pole in her hand fishing with her Dad in the rivers and lakes all over Oregon and Washington. In college she became a certified scuba diver and has always had a fascination with the ocean. A few years ago she was able to take her first trip out on to the Ocean and got a taste of that deep sea fishing. As her love for the water and fishing has evolved, she too is working toward her Captain's license.

Douglas (Dougie) definitely was born with salt in his blood. He started crossing the bar and fishing at a very young age. His first tuna was reeled in at a mere 5 years old and his love for these blue water beauties has grown from there. Douglas has been helping his Dad since he could handle a fishing pole and is working toward becoming a Captain in our family business in just a few short years.

Dave was raised in Newport, OR. This salty dawg has been on the water for the last 60+ years. He has many great fishtails and so much experience to share with everyone. Dave has been a huge part of our family business and helping us achieve our dreams much faster than we thought possible.

There is no shortage of love for the Ocean and fishing in our family. We look forward to sharing a memorable experience with everyone that boards our vessel, whether it be your first trip out or you are a seasoned fisherman.
